Israel’s Defence Minister, Yisrael Katz, has warned that the country’s military is prepared to launch a major operation against Iran, but is awaiting final authorization from the United States.

In remarks seen as a sharp escalation in tone, Katz indicated that any prospective strike would aim to significantly weaken Iran’s military capabilities, suggesting the possibility of far-reaching consequences. He stressed that Israeli forces are fully prepared for both defensive and offensive scenarios should tensions with Tehran intensify.

The statement comes amid heightened regional strain, with Israel maintaining a high level of military readiness. According to Katz, all strategic options remain on the table, subject to coordination with Washington, Israel’s key ally.

His comments also referenced Iran’s leadership, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, a move analysts interpret as part of a broader effort to exert political and psychological pressure on Tehran.

Observers note that such rhetoric is designed to reinforce deterrence and shape the strategic landscape, particularly as tensions persist around sensitive areas such as the Strait of Hormuz and Israel’s northern frontier.
